The House of Horrors

Early October of 2016 Junk Munkiez had its biggest and dirtiest job still to date. We received a call from a lady in Washington asking us what we did exactly and what our prices were. By the sound of her voice you could tell she was in a stressful situation. A tenant they had rented their property to became a drug addict, collecting enormous amounts of trash and junk that he apparently though was useful stuff.

It wasn't! To make matters worse he was a messy hunter, having a poached bear hide hanging in a shed that was leaking rain water, preventing the hide from ever drying.

When the tenant stopped paying, the lady and her family had the man evicted but that didn’t stop him from returning. He’d continue living there by breaking into the property which was easy to do considering how far away the family was and the fact the house was far out from the city.

They eventually found out, turned off the power to the house and had a restraining order filed against him while also having a family friend check on the property occasionally. The friend once found him sleeping underneath the house in the crawl space with his sleeping bag. Eventually the law caught up to him and he went to jail but that didn’t fix the catastrophe he left behind. A few days after talking on the phone we showed up to the property and were flabbergasted. We thought it would be messy but had NO IDEA it would be that BAD! Piles upon piles of trash were laying throughout the property. What made the situation worse too is that bears rummaged through the mess throwing trash and bits of decaying food everywhere. You could actually see many teeth and claw marks on a lot of the old food cartridges.

We knew this was going to be a huge clean up for us but the fun was only beginning! One of the family members took us to the shed where the decomposing hide was still hanging up and showed us the dreaded deep freezer!

The power had been shut off about three months before we got there so you can imagine what can take place inside a large deep freezer full of food. A brief opening of the freezer released a hoard of flies and the most nauseous fumes we had ever smelled! We felt we should deal with this first. Once getting it out we realized it was to heavy to pick up so we knew we needed to dump it and that’s when the true test of character really began! Opening revealed all of its yummy surprises. Rotting TV dinners, dinner rolls, blueberry’s, egg’s, fish, and a dear carcass he had hunted. This had all began liquefying itself.

We drained six to seven gallons of putrid black sludge. The deer was in a black trash bag, it had turned into pinkish mush! It was hard not to puke while draining the freezer but the mission was accomplished. We got it into our truck and moved onto the other debris that was scattered throughout the back patio and front yard. This was only a fraction of the all the junk that was scattered throughout the 5+ acres. They felt we had done enough and decided to call it good but about a month later they hired us again to help with the rest of the garbage scattered throughout the property. After everything was said and done, we had hauled off several thousand pounds and had moved tens of thousands of pounds of wood debris to a burn pit. This job tested our character, many junk removal services would have declined this once seeing what they were getting into but we stuck with it. We greatly helped this family out of this horrible situation. They were even able to sale the property! If you have have a job like this in Eugene, Oregon or the surrounding area give us a call! We can help! (541)337-0619

Solutions To Problems

Junk Munkiez  provides one service, a solution to a problem!  As we live our lives we collect stuff. At one moment in time we may believe many of the items we acquire are essential for life or will finally bring us happiness. Unfortunately though, it's much like the Leprechaun's treasure at the end of every rainbow, you'll finally be rewarded that treasure or happiness if you can simply reach it... but you won't.  We buy items thinking it's making us happy when in reality it's the release of the craving for that object. Sure enough, this urge is back very soon and the seek to satisfy that craving returns. Before you know it, you have a pile of junk growing in your garage, basement, and spare bedroom.  Don't worry, you're not alone. It happens to pretty much all of us. No seriously, we see it everyday! Marketing specialists rely on this human behavior. Heck, this article is a form of advertising technically.  Enough of the depressing talk

Junk Munkiez Vision

By now, many Eugene and Springfield, Oregon residents are beginning to understand who we are and what we do. We've been hauling customers' junk to donation, recycling, and to the Lane county dump facilities since June of 2016. We started out very small. We only had one old 1998 Penske moving box van. That had been bought and used by other companies and eventually to a private owner. We bought it from a lady that lived in a tiny town just a few miles North East of Lincoln City called Otis, Oregon. We found her listing on Craigslist and payed her $2,100 to take it off her hands. It wasn't in the best of shape, it had over 297,000 miles, and had some repairs it needed before it was street legal. After spending about $800 to get it up to par we were excited to get to work! Only problem, no one knew who we were! With no experience in business management, marketing, and everything else in between we struggled to find work in the beginning.  The Hatcher brothers and Derek

Junk Munkiez Holiday Donations

Junk Munkiez  had a goal this last holiday season. To help those in need by bringing the community together. From the 22nd of November til the 24th of December 2018 Junk Munkiez offered free service to those in need! Normally, belongings that are no longer wanted but are still in good condition are donated to accepting donation facilities but we had an idea. What if we could gather a list of names of individuals around Springfield and Eugene, Oregon that were looking for particular goods this holiday season and see if anybody else around town was willing to donate those needed items to them. Junk Munkiez would be the middle man by picking up and delivering them for free.  We started the project by publishing and promoting a video on Facebook about our plans and if anyone was interested. Word spread quickly and people began responding. We quickly learned of individuals who are homeless and in need of things as simply as a jacket! Other's were just getting into a home and were i
